A.POZAS ARTIST

AGUSTÍN GÓMEZ POZAS   (ÚBEDA, SPAIN, 1989).

A.POZAS has a degree in fine arts, from the university of Granada.

He is a Spanish artist currently living and working in England, creating monochromatic and chromatic artworks based on an expression of the inner artist.

His works are clearly under the influence of pop art, street art and the realism of the surrealism.

Sometimes, playing with the stencil effect on his paintings and using the monocromatic balance of the black and white. He usually try to express a feeling and most of the time spectators experience those sentiments or other.

Other times, creating artwork with complex social commentary whilst exploring themes of diversity and identity. He is a versatile and conceptual artist with extensive experience in this field.

The main subject of this versatile history

artist´s work relates to social diversity and the differents identities that represent a person.

Another main topic is explored through the transformation of iconic imagery, by creating a new meaning or creating an ironic representation,

utilising unique social sarcasm.

Through this method, the artist makes a complaint to capitalism, religion, or war... with pertinance and importance for the time in which we are living.

Additionally, the artist has been influenced by prejuidices or insecurities that can transform his own pesonality, like the social and psychological pressure on any person.

A.Pozas endeavours to make a social critique of racism, or any kind of social prejudices or obstacles. These themes include the homosexuality or the sexuality in the social field.

These topics have become the main subject of the principal art-works and artistic projects for this gorgeous artist, as well as a defense of it.

With the sexuality represented in his art-works, he shows us both a social and personal inner context, where the viewer may be involved or represented through voyeurism. His artwork also explores the importance of the human body as an objet of desire.

In itself, homosexuality
is as limited as heterosexuality:
Ideally to be able
to love a woman or
a man - any human
being - without fear,
inhibition or obligation.

Homophobia contributes to strengthening the fragile heterosexuality of many men.

For many (men) the mere fact of not being gay is a guarantee of masculinity.
